Reflecting on 2009

 We reflected on 2009 as a family and individually the other day. Each of us had a huge sheet of paper and wrote down and/or drew what 2009 meant for us, including experiences and things we have accomplished. I encourage you to take a moment to do a similar thing with your family. It is amazing and inspiring to see it from a child's perspective. 

This is one of the pictures my 8 year old son, Mason, drew. We loved our 1600sq. ft. home in Los Angeles, but we all love our new home of 4500sq.ft. here in NJ. And it was a delight to see that he really did enjoy his new environment as much as I had hoped for for my family. 

We also dreamed of new adventures for our family for 2010, which was so much fun! It was unanimous that we'll be visiting grandparents in Hawaii and Korea.

And as I reflect on my own life, a huge part of my 2009 was this blog and its readers and supporters. I've poured my heart and soul into it, learned from it, grew tremendously from it, and mostly just really helped me to focus on the beauty in my life. 

So for all the support, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! 

Thank you for coming back and sharing in this beautiful journey we call life...

I have big plans for 2010 regarding this blog. You may have noticed that there's a new navigation button on top: handwork tv:-) I'll keep the rest as a little secret until it's ready to be launched. All I'm saying now, is that it's going to be so fun!!! I can't wait to share the news very very soon!

First Snow!

I spent the day in NYC today at a business conference. After a day of meeting entrepreneurs and being filled with new ideas and inspirations, I was eager to drive back home to my family. 

I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that it was snowing as I drove. I want to capture here the complete awe I felt as I drove through the falling snow. Wow! It was just such a magical feeling to experience that first snow! I was just brimming with appreciation in my heart (and with tears in my eyes) for this incredible experience of being in this new city. We were anticipating new adventures and experiences, but seeing the pure beauty of snow just reminded me why we chose to move to the east coast. 

Experiencing something new and moving toward expansion just makes you feel so alive! Just so grateful for this delicious life, the wonderful people in my life, my sweet family, ... the list goes on.

Change Your Thinking

Fun Times in Bermuda!

 

We went on a 5 day cruise on Royal Caribbean to Bermuda! It was especially fun because it was also the Unschooling Adventure Cruise, organized by my good friend, Dayna Martin. It was definitely an adventure I'll never forget! Wow, being on that awesome ship was such an eye-opening experience. The ship was like a Las Vegas hotel floating on water! They had everything there and it was really luxurious. The staff was so helpful and fun! There were endless amounts of yummy food at every turn. I really got spoiled being there:-) 

It was also a great experience to be a featured speaker at the conference. I really enjoy sharing with others what I've learned in my path so it was a pleasure to share my Manifesting Your Dreams talk there. I must have talked a lot that day because I lost my voice! That never happened to me before, but then I never talked so much before:-)

It was so fun to experience a new culture with my boys! I'm so grateful for such a great experience. I've learned so much and just loved the whole expansion of traveling! I'd love to do a longer cruise next time with the whole family.

 

There were parades and fun things to do throughout the whole cruise! The costumes were grand and they really made it fun for everyone. Live music was wonderful and really put me in a tropical vacation mode with their local music!

Ahhh, it's finally time to get on "land" and walk around! Hello, tropical island!

 

All dressed up for the cruise "formal night." It was so fun to wear my dress that I've only worn once before having Ryker. It's also great that I can fit into it! tee hee. The boys looked so dashing and handsome! Now, only if I could take a good clear picture....

When Your are in Alignment

When you are in alignment with who-you-really-are, you cannot help but uplift those with whom you come into contact. Your value to those around you hinges upon only one thing: your personal alignment with Source. And the only thing you have to give to another is an example of that alignment—which they may observe, then desire, and then work to achieve—but you cannot give it to them. Everyone is responsible for the thoughts they think and the things that they choose as their objects of attention.

Merry Go Round

  

This was Ryker's first ride on the merry-go-round. He was fascinated by the movement and all the colors and music. He was soaking it all in and just enjoying the ride. I looked up to see what he was looking at and saw the beautiful reflections on the mirrors in the ceiling. 

It's a joy to be able to experience this moment with him as I remember a moment exactly like this with my oldest, Gabriel, 9 years ago. How fast time flies...

How Great Is This Time We Live In?

I know that media's portraying this time in our life to be doom and gloom. We're suppose to be in the middle of a recession, right? So I've heard, although I don't watch any news and rarely any tv so I'm a bit clueless in that area. Actually, I choose not to be affected by media on purpose. I like creating my own reality, and other than for an occasional entertainment value, I rather spend my time doing other things. And my reality is that our world is an abundant place.

I've been feeling so fortunate to be living at this time in our world. Right now, I have so much technological support that never existed in any of the previous generations. I moved to the opposite part of the continent and technology literally saved me this past month. Just the thought of how very different my life would've been without these support is totally depressing. 

Some of the things I'm grateful for:

Google ~ To search what's around the neighborhood. I know exactly where everything is and how to get there.

yahoo groups ~ That's how I got to connect with homeschoolers here!

Portable Navigation system ~ Without this, I'd be stuck at home. It really allows me to roam about without any apprehension and frees me to explore my surroundings.

Skype & other digital communication systems ~ Allows me to talk & see my husband wherever he may be traveling to, we feel close and connected no matter where we are.

Youtube ~ Whenever I don't know how to do something, I google it and there's usually a how-to video. I'm serious, try it! Here's my previous post about it. And just the other day, I didn't know how to empty out my Dyson vacuum so I found it on Youtube! Who needs college, right? LOL. 

Email, text, facebook, blogs, twitter, etc. ~ These allow me to stay connected to my friends back home and more, so that I never feel alone.

Direct deposit, bill pay, online banking ~ Makes my life so much easier so I don't have to slave over paperwork & drive to the bank.

Free iPhone apps ~ My kids are entertained endlessly with these silly (and super fun!) games. It has helped little Ryker occupied in car rides home when it was a bit too late.
