Potty training was the grossest thing I had to do as a new parent. I couldn't understand why anyone had invented the portable potty. It's the most disgusting thing to clean! So I was on a quest to find a better way.
When my second son was born, I came upon Elimination Communication. I thought that was wonderful and read all the books, but still felt nervous. I did it part time and started late. I started when Mason could walk, around 12 months. I used to sit him in the big toilet (with a smaller seat), and read and showed him pictures. By age two, he was completely potty trained even at night. He never had any accidents at night as I'd take him to the bathroom before I went to bed and cued him to go. He was half asleep and always went, which worked out smoothly.
I've been cueing Ryker while he had his diaper on since birth, but didn't know how to proceed. This podcast really opened my eyes to a new way and a deeper understanding of how EC works. I hope this would help other moms out there. Please let me know if you've EC'd or have questions!
I've started to take Ryker to the big toilet this week. I take him to pee first thing in the morning when he wakes and also after a nap. I was very surprised when he'd go as soon as I cued him the sound. Amazing! Now, I just have to work on #2! I'll be sure to let you all know of our progress and perhaps even video!
